Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara (1805 -1871)
Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the founder of the CMI Congregation, our Guiding Light and Inspiration, was a great educationalist and a social reformer of the 19th Century. He could foresee the changes in the environment and make strategic moves to build up a better society based on the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of humanity.
